We’re excited to announce our involvement in the rebranding of Sunlight House, one of Manchester’s most iconic landmarks and the first-ever skyscraper in the North of England. Standing proudly on Quay Street, this Grade II listed building has been a symbol of ambition and innovation since its completion in 1932. Designed by the eccentric and visionary architect Joseph Sunlight, the building has become a timeless part of the city’s skyline, renowned for its Art Deco style, distinctive turrets, dormer windows, and striking mansard roofs.
Joseph Sunlight was known for his bold vision and daring spirit. By his early twenties, Sunlight had already designed and built over 1,000 houses on the outskirts of the city. His ambition and unconventional approach to design left an indelible mark on Manchester, with Sunlight House being one of his greatest achievements.
Now, we are thrilled to be part of the next chapter in Sunlight House Manchester’s legacy. Building on its rich history of ambition, boldness, and creativity, we are helping to reimagine its future. Slated for launch at the end of 2024, Sunlight House will become a dynamic hub for creativity, collaboration, and productivity, offering a range of flexible office spaces from full floors to private studios.
In keeping with the spirit of Joseph Sunlight’s forward-thinking ethos, sustainability is at the heart of the transformation. Through an innovative retrofit scheme, over 200,000 square feet of existing space is being preserved, avoiding the need for new construction. Sunlight House is targeting a net-zero carbon footprint, leading the way in environmentally responsible development.
But more than just space, Sunlight House Manchester will be a destination for culture and creativity. It aims to cultivate meaningful connections and foster collaboration across industries. From artists and entrepreneurs to engineers and programmers, the building will foster a community of innovators, united under one roof, where culture thrives and new ideas are born.
As we prepare for the official launch, we’ve already begun bringing the building’s creative spirit to life. We recently partnered with HEADS UK to host a Creative Meet at Sunlight House. The event brought together over 60 local creatives—artists, photographers, and models—to collaborate in the naturally lit 11th floor, showcasing the potential of Sunlight House as a space that inspires and enables Manchester’s brightest talents.
We’re excited to continue working towards the future of Sunlight House Manchester to create a new space for pioneers and visionaries in the heart of the city.
