Manchester-based designer Rick Banks has compiled three decades worth of nightclub graphics into a new book.
Through a range of logos, posters, photography, tickets, cover art, signage, lanyards and flyers – the designer has created a "graphic record" of the country's nightclub history.
We are delighted to have had our work for Printworks London featured in the book as one of the most recent example of successful identity projects. The UK has given birth to some of the world's most iconic nightclub and electronic music brands. The book starts in the 1980s with the Haçienda, on a journey via Mansfield, Liverpool and several points in between before alighting at the Printworks in London with some of the modern era’s best graphic design work.
Painstakingly curated, many of the graphics in the book are pre-digital and have been developed out of old transparencies, bromides and retouching physical hard copies. In some cases the graphics have been recreated from scratch down to every minute detail. The highly-produced cover features diamond dust mimicking a dark and ethereal club environment.
Head over to the books Kickstarter page to the support the project and find out more.
